Critcal Cosplay: Designing Pike

Any of you who have read my previous posts will know that I’m Critter. For those of you who don’t know what that means, go look up a little show called Critical Role by Geek & Sundry. It’s amazing. The cast/crew are all fantastic. Matthew Mercer puts so much into the game for the players and they all give so much back. And the community is one of the best.

All that being said, I’ve decided to take on my most difficult cosplay to date. I once helped create costumes for a little web series for a friend, in which I worked with shaping form for some basic body armor, but it was pretty low budget and I feel like I can do better now. I’ve fancied the idea of crafting my own cosplay armor for some time, but nothing had inspired me. But Critical Role changed all that with a Gnome Cleric named Pike.

As I embark on this process, I shall document it all for you here dear Lady Nerders. Below is a sketch of my rough design based on art by Kit Buss and some of my favorite fan art illustrations.

And for further inspiration, I’ve been listening to the Pike playlist Ashley Johnson put together for Geek & Sundry.
